To whom it may concern,
It has come to our attention that you have listed information about the North American Actors Association playreading festival without our permission. The information that you have listed is both incorrect and out of date, which has caused a great deal of confusion and frustration for playwrights trying to submit work to our competition, and who have seen the information elsewhere.
We would be grateful if you would immediately remove all information you have about our festival from your website, and would ask that in future you apply directly to us before including us in any listing. We are quite happy to be included on websites aimed at playwrights, but as you may appreciate we do need to know what is being listed and where, and so ask for prior approval before any listing is published.
best wishes,
Ms. Laurence Bouvard
Chief Executive, NAAA

NOTE to readers of this site: We apologize for any confusion, but the website WAS checked in advance (it's that 3 solid days of work I do every month ... just verifying!) and that's where the information was retrieved. Hope it hasn't caused you stress .... Keep plugging away and please let me know if you discover errors or, such as this, are told by the theatre that a listing needs to be removed for whatever reason.

Chicago, IL 60657

Downstage Left (or DSL) is Stage Left's new play development program to assist playwrights by shepherding plays from the conceptual stage toward production. Projects can start with as little as an idea and a proposal, and progress through a series of steps towards an eventual production at Stage Left or another theatre from Chicago or around the country interested in compelling, thought-provoking and topical new plays. All DSL projects must further Stage Left's aritstic mission: to raise debate and challenge perspectives on political and social issues. Check site for The Toolbox Series: This is the entry point for most DSL projects. Artists can customize their approach by using one of the following tools DSL offers. The Stage Left ensemble will select outstanding projects from the Toolbox Series to be awarded developmental residencies, for which writers will receive eight months of uninterrupted development, culminating in a slot in LeapFest, Stage Left's annual festival of new, socially-charged plays. The festival is an opportunity for playwrights, actors, directors and dramaturgs to actively engage in a three to four week workshop intensive. The experience is capped by publicly staged performances and a concerted marketing effort to let other theatres know about the work.

Shorter & Sweeter for Kids
3/31
T
Australia

NO FEE. We're creating a show that will consist of 10-minute-or-less plays for children. Again, the show has not been officially named yet - so for now, we're calling it" shorter+Sweeter for Kids". In fact, we're really creating two shows: one aimed at 4-8 year olds, and one aimed at 8-12 year olds. Imagine a 40 minute show aimed at 4-8 year olds, then an"interval"where our audience turns over then a 50 minute show aimed at 8-12 year olds. The plan is that this children's show will be professionally produced and toured. The idea is to create new contemporary stories for a younger audience, not just a retelling of traditional tales. The play must be suitable for either 4-8 year olds or 8-12 year olds, and can use at most 6 actors. Other than this, there are no restrictions on theme, topic, etc. Note that music and/or use of musical instruments (to be played or sung by our actors) is absolutely fine (provided there are no copyright infringements, of course). Note that the only formats we can accept are .doc, .pdf and .txt
